Contrapositively Confusing

Genevieve is on the road to reading; more often than not she can recognize any letter. She still has trouble with the ones that look similar: C & G, O & Q, P & R, etc. Strange fonts also confuse her and she'll often point out a letter excitedly when she can parse one in a store sign.

She has two toys that teach her the sounds of the letters and she is pretty good at that too. The other day Genevieve walked up to Carrie and said, "Cat starts with 'C'." "Yes, Genevieve, cat does start with 'C'." Genevieve had a puzzled look on her face. "But does Noodles start with 'C'?" "No, Genevieve, Noodles starts with 'N'." You could almost hear the gears turning in her head, "But Noodles is a cat and cat starts with 'C'." "Yes, Genevieve, Noodles is a cat but Noodles starts with 'N'."
