Polly Wants a Punk Rock Girl

At this point Sophie is pretty much a parrot. She will try to mimic most things that you say. She also has a new trick. If you start any sentence with a question word like "How" or "What" she'll respond with "Good"

Here was tonight's exchange:
"Sophie, how are you tonight?"
"Good"

"Genevieve, what did you do in school today?"
"Good"

Okay, so she answers questions that weren't directed at her. I have no idea where she would have learned that.

On an unrelated note G is pretty comfortable with most of the sounds that letters make and will randomly say what letter a word starts with. Although she does have it backwards. "H starts with Hippo; right Daddy?"

Genevieve's musical tastes also seem to have matured. Much to my chagrin whenever "American Idiot", by Green Day, comes on the radio she says, "I love this song."

The other day Carrie was driving to school when Genevieve said from the back seat, "Mommy, I want to hear the 'should we stay or should we go now' song."

The song in question is "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by the Clash. Carrie is going to buy her that and the Ramones. Nothing says pre-school music like early-punk.

Though it isn't all early- and late-punk; she also loves singing "Sparkle" by Phish, much to Carrie's chagrin, and will do so with only a modicum of prompting.

She also loves They Might Be Giants and is a little annoyed that I've been going to their concerts without taking her. To be fair, I'm pretty sure she thinks it is to see a puppet show singing songs and not a live band on stage but I'm sure she'd enjoy it either way.

Fall Pictures

The great thing about cell phones with cameras is that you always have a camera with you for life's unexpected and/or cute moments. The bad thing is that the pictures usually stay in the cell phone instead of being shared.

Here is a small collection of pictures of Genevieve and Sophie enjoy various activities this fall.
