Jonah's 15-month check-up

Jonah was fine with the getting naked and getting measured part. He didn't mind talking to the doctor or showing his artistic ability by drawing on the note paper. He did mind the actual examination part. He screamed like there was no tomorrow and that was just when the doctor was listening to his chest. By the time Jonah got his shots he just laid his head on my chest and whimpered. Poor baby.

Height: 32" (75th percentile)
Weight: 24.5 lbs. (50th percentile - surprising, because he has one heckuva Buddha belly)
Head Circumference: 25th percentile

Fro

When Jonah's hair is wet or is allowed to dry naturally it is very curly. Unfortunately he has to wear a hat a lot lately which pulls out all of the curl and causes his hair to fall flat on his face. I finally had to give him a haircut a few weeks ago because of this. I only cut the bangs because (a) I love his curly hair, and (b) he isn't the most willing or cooperative of subjects. I realize that this will have to change in the future or he will end up with a mullet.

Snow Laughing Matter

You know it's going to be a good day when the forecast involves Storm #1 and Storm #2.

Here's how everything looked after Storm #1:

Sophie's Dance Class

What she lacks in grace she makes up for in enthusiasm. I particularly like her decision to try every move in her repertoire in the hopes that one of those would be the one the teacher was looking for.

Where's my Snow Day?

School was canceled last Wednesday due to the foot of snow on the ground. The girls went sledding in the morning and I let them play in the backyard as much as possible. They had a blast and now there isn't a square inch in the backyard that hasn't been trampled.

I'm the tooth fairy; I came for your teeth. Ok!

Jonah's language skills have been taking off. He was doing pretty well with his sign language but that has been stagnating as his language skills picked up. He still will sign for when he is all done at dinner or he wants more of something but all the other signs are gone.

He differentiates between cats and dogs (meows and woofs). He can say book, milk and fork though they all sound a bit a like as he only gets the K out clearly. He still loves brushing his teeth and even requests it when he is in the bathroom by saying teeth

He is pretty good with bye-bye but his real favorite is good-night. If you lay him down in his crib he will say: "night." Of course, we respond back with: "Good night." To which he dutifully replies, "night." This will go on until after we leave the room. When the door is shut he raises his voice and starts shouting "NIGHT!!!" He finds the whole thing hysterical and usually giggles the whole time.

Genevieve lost her first tooth today. It has been wiggly since mid October. The dentist said if it wasn't out in two months we should have it pulled. I gave her until we came back from Georgia to get it out. We were about to schedule an appointment when the root started showing on Sunday. At that point I knew it was just a matter of days so we left her to her own devices. Tonight it was twisting about in all directions so Carrie gave it a small tug and it popped out. The hole bled for about 2 minutes before stopping. Genevieve is really excited and put her tooth under her pillow. Sometime back Carrie told G that the tooth fairy didn't exist but G refuses to believe her. We'll be swapping out the tooth for some money later this evening.
