Potty Animal
Sophie desperately wants to be a big girl. Lately this involves her sitting on the potty. I once caught her just before she pooped and put her on the potty to see what she would think about it. After much struggling everything came out just fine and she thought that was pretty cool. She got to flush, wave bye-bye to the poop and wash her hands. Since then sitting on the potty has become a regular treat for her. She starts screaming, "Potty! Potty!" I put her on the potty and then we wait. A few times she has peed but I am sure that is just a coincidence. Most of the time she looks down into the potty and asks where the poop is. "Maybe you don't need to go poopie." "No. Stuck!" "No, I don't think the poopie is stuck. Maybe we can try again later." She sits there until I get tired of it and then screams when I take her off. Nice.
Lately she has decided that she doesn't need Mommy's help to sit on the potty. She will go in and put the potty seat on by herself and start ripping off her clothes. Yesterday she went one step further. She went and got a clean diaper, then went to the potty and began adjusting the potty seat. It was on backwards so I went in to help. She said, "Poopie!" Great. Here we go again. I gave her my maybe-you-don't have-to-poop speech but she was having none of it. Probably because she actually did poop in the potty. She looked at me triumphantly and began clapping her hands and squealing. Genevieve gave her a big hug and told her that now she gets poopie chocolates. Sophie may be on her way to training herself.
