Ice Skating
We took all the kids ice skating last weekend. While she could use a lesson to learn some of the finer points of skating, Genevieve skates like a champ. She was really good about not leaving the little ones behind. I would have liked to skate with her but it wasn't in the cards. I was either helping Sophie around the rink or Jonah. Sophie, after a few minutes managed to "get it" but, in true Sophie fashion, would take some pretty hard spills. Jonah was clearly too young to be on the ice with our level of commitment. He couldn't keep his ankles from bending and was practically in tears. He didn't give up though. After his first circuit, which took about 20 minutes, he took a 40 minute break. I assumed he was done for the day but after several snacks he came back out for two more circuits.

What's in a name
Jonah has a gift for naming. We have several stuffed animals that for years have never had names. The girls, for the most part have tended to pick fairly generic names. Genevieve has paprika (her bear) but, other than that, things are mostly named for what they are: Lamb-blanket, bunny-blanket, bunny, etc. Sophie isn't much better: bunny, who is sometimes known as bun-bun, and dolphin. Jonah started off the same. He had bear and doggies. The interesting thing about bear is that while bear is a blanket with a bear's head in the corner she meows. Bear is a kitten. Now, while bear has kept his name, doggies have been renamed. There is lollipop, candy, chocolate and broccoli.
One of those names seems out of place. I know...candy.
