The girls had a lot of fun in Georgia. They went swimming, to the zoo, to the Children's Museum in Atlanta, peach picking, hiking, etc., etc., etc. The only problem was that Sophie decided to sprout 3 teeth at once and got an ear infection. On the plus side she took her first steps in Georgia, much to the delight of Grandma and Grandpa.
Sophie had her 10-month check-up yesterday. The ear infection has cleared up and the doctor said that she is doing very well. He was impressed with how strong she is.
Height: 30.5" (still above 97th percentile) Weight: 22 pounds (90th percentile - slimming down from all of the exercise)
I got the kiddie pool out today for the girls. It beats sitting in the house all day and it is way too hot to do anything else. I gave them both cups of ice water to keep them hydrated. They both had a great time splashing around. The only snag was that Sophie kept taking off her hat... and trying to eat the pool.
Genevieve is on the road to reading; more often than not she can recognize any letter. She still has trouble with the ones that look similar: C & G, O & Q, P & R, etc. Strange fonts also confuse her and she'll often point out a letter excitedly when she can parse one in a store sign.
She has two toys that teach her the sounds of the letters and she is pretty good at that too. The other day Genevieve walked up to Carrie and said, "Cat starts with 'C'." "Yes, Genevieve, cat does start with 'C'." Genevieve had a puzzled look on her face. "But does Noodles start with 'C'?" "No, Genevieve, Noodles starts with 'N'." You could almost hear the gears turning in her head, "But Noodles is a cat and cat starts with 'C'." "Yes, Genevieve, Noodles is a cat but Noodles starts with 'N'."
