Video Issues
For those that have been complaining that the videos are broken please be patient. I see numerous other bloggers complaining that their videos don't work as well.
They will either start working as soon as the issue is fixed or we'll re-upload them at a later date.

Mirror Mirror
Jonah likes looking at his reflection. He smiles at himself and makes light conversation. Unfortunately the person he is talking to just babbles incoherently.
Arts and Crafts
Genevieve and Sophie had a lot of fun decorating non-breakable vases for their room. Genevieve requested non-breakable vases as I have instilled in her the proper fear of all things glass and what can happen if they break. She is also afraid of balloons and will scream if one goes anywhere near a ceiling fan, but that's a story for another day.

The Good News, Part II
Jonah is feeling much better. He is no longer congested and hasn't coughed until he puked since earlier this week. He wasn't eating as well when he was sick but he is making up for it now with increased 'round-the-clock feedings.
The Bad News, Part II
Apparently it was Genevieve's turn to be sick. I heard her calling for Mommy or Daddy Wednesday night to come and see what happened to her pillow. I knew what happened as soon as I walked into her room. She had thrown up on everything. Her pillow, sheets, Paprika, even her freshly washed hair. She was feverish that night and threw up a few more times but she got better very quickly and was back at school today.
After two weeks straight of sick children I am hoping that we are done for a little while.

The Good News
Sophie is feeling better and she finally went back to school today. She still has a little cough but her nose is no longer dripping and she sounds less like a hoarse seal and more like an angry lion (for some reason she still likes to roar at people).
The Bad News:
Jonah is sick. He has a cough, head congestion, and he threw up twice last night. He had his 3-month "well" check-up today and the doctor confirmed that it is just a cold. For now. Apparently kids this age are very susceptible to Bronchiolitis and we should bring him in immediately if his breathing gets any worse. In the mean time I need to be more aggressive with aspirating him. I'm already holding him down and shoving a big blue bulb up his nose to suck out the mucus. Not sure how much more aggressive I can be.
The Stats:
Weight: 15 lbs. 11 oz. (95th percentile)
Height: 25.75" (95th percentile)
Head Circumference: 16.25" (50th percentile)
Jonah isn't completely miserable. He gave the doctor a big smile and a friendly "goo"... until she stuck him with a big needle.

Another Great One Liner
On Friday morning Sophie sounded like she had a slight sore throat. "Sophie," I said, "you sound a little hoarse." Sophie looked down at her clothes to verify which pajamas she was wearing and says, "No daddy. Dora!"
On a slightly less humorous note the sore throat turned into croup and she spent some of the night barking like a seal in our bed. Normally this wouldn't be different than any other night but it sounded more realistic.
She is still too sick to go to school but is certainly well enough to run around and play. Before you critique the camera work I had a squirming baby on my lap who was flailing his arms in front of the camera. Also, if I tried to look through the camera the scene would have come to a halt as the performers would have demanded to see it.

Favorite
For some reason Sophie has a lot of favorites. No, I'm not talking about toys. She will find things like spatulas and rolling pins and claim that they are her favorite. Genevieve does a similar thing, like claiming that purple is her only favorite color and that if she doesn't get it she will cry until she dies. (That's a real quote. Are all 5-year-olds this morbid?)
Speaking of favorites, here are the kids doing some of theirs:
Jonah loves sleeping in Grandpa's lap.
There's only one thing that the girls like better than making cookies, and that's eating them.

One Small Step For A Man
Jonah spent his first night alone last night. After three nights in which he didn't wake up once during the wee hours, we figured it was time. Carrie gave him his last feeding around 10 PM and put him to bed in the crib in his new room. Our room was eerily quiet even though we had the white noise machines broadcasting over both baby monitors. I was nervous that his monitor might malfunction so we slept with our door open as a backup.
Today we took the girls to the rock gym for some climbing. When Genevieve and I went last time, Sophie was so mad that she had been left behind that she screamed for almost 2 hours and refused to eat lunch. Even after napping, she wouldn't stop crying unless the T.V. was on. This time we all went, even Carrie and Jonah. Carrie didn't think she would remember how to belay but after a few minutes watching she recalled the procedure.
The girls had a wonderful time. Sophie spent most of the time playing "Diego" by swinging on the ropes. I had to drag her up most of the wall as she was a little too short for many spots but she didn't care/notice. Genevieve is getting to be pretty good. She still won't go much higher than 12 or 15 feet, but she does that bit confidently.
